Primary 4 and 5 have only been back to school a few weeks and already have excelled in their maths topics! We have learned how to find the area of shapes using magnetic squares. We also got to cut strips of paper into fractions to help us work out fractions of an amount. For example, we had a strip of paper which was 16cm long. We learned that by folding it in half, then half again we made quarters! We found out that a quarter was 4cm long. We also got to investigate equivalent fractions and record what we noticed on our desks as we found out so much information. We used the fractions bars to help us see that one third is equivalent to two sixths. We are learning about money this week and doing some shopping for Miss Swail!
